Water so clean, I’d let my dog drink it

I was recently quoted in an article about how people love dogs more than humans (see the article here)… and whilst it’s true, there’s something implicit in the reasons for it that saddens me, and that I want to speak to today.

One of the biggest reasons I hear for why people openly say they love dogs more than humans, is that dogs are innocent.

And I’m not denying that. I LOVE that people have soft hearts that care of creatures more vulnerable than themselves and use their voice to advocate for them. That’s something pretty wonderful about humans, right there!

Yet implicit in some of the comments I hear, is pain. Pain caused at humans and a desire to retreat from letting people close, because they’ve been hurt before and it was too painful to risk again. Somehow, for at least some of the people I encounter who love dogs more than people, there has been something (or series of things) happen so damaging that not only did it shake their faith in the person/people involved at that time, but it shook their belief in humanity, full stop.

That hurt can’t help, but it can be healed.

I look around the world and my goodness there are some steaming great messes in it, aren’t there?

Yet I hold hope for us humans.

Because there are amazing people who are willing to stand up and help those who have no voice…

…to advocate and care for those who cannot speak for themselves…

…to protect the helpless.

And that’s pretty amazing.

I know it can be tempting to think the world is going to hell in a handcart, but no-one ever showed their best when the worst was expected of them.

Because I am inspired by the people I get to work with, and I too want to stand up for those who have no voice, for TODAY- Giving Tuesday- I want to shout out for all the innocent children who have only got access to water that we wouldn’t allow our dogs to drink.

I want to speak up for children who no more asked to be born into third world poverty, than we did to our first world existence.

Today, I want to ask you to join me in giving $1 to help build a well, to save a community from drinking water that we’d never let our dogs near.

Please join me. Together we CAN change the world for the better. Together we CAN restore someone’s faith in humanity.

Here’s the link:

Please give $1 or whatever you can, and do something wonderful today for someone who can’t speak up for themselves.

Here’s a little video to share more:

“100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.”

Thank you for joining me today to make a difference! <3
